so she lasts decades.
Platinum silicone is a generous material. It forgives most domestic mishaps, but it rewards a small routine. Here is the routine we keep at the bench, and the one we recommend at home.
01 · First evening
A wipe with warm water.
Use a soft cotton cloth, lukewarm water, no soap. This removes the fine talc film applied at packaging. Pat dry. The skin will look matte; the talc dressing returns in step three.
02 · Cleaning · routine
Soft soap, never solvent.
A drop of pH-neutral hand soap in warm water, applied with the same cotton cloth. Avoid alcohol, acetone, peroxide, citrus oils — they break the silicone bond over time. Rinse with plain water, pat dry.
03 · Cleaning · deep
Every few months, a bath.
Fill the tub with lukewarm water below 38 °C. Lower her in supporting the head and torso, do not let the wig get wet. Ten minutes is enough. Dry with a soft towel by pressing, not rubbing.
04 · Dressing the skin
Baby powder, lightly.
After every clean and every few weeks otherwise, apply a thin layer of unscented baby powder (cornstarch or talc) with a large makeup brush. This keeps the silicone matte, dust-resistant and pleasant to touch. Do not skip — naked silicone collects lint.
05 · Storage
Cool, dark, off the floor.
Best position is reclined on the back, head supported, in a closed wardrobe or under-bed crate. Avoid prolonged sitting (compresses the hips), prolonged standing (loads the ankles), direct sunlight (yellows the dye) and radiators (warps the spine).
06 · Clothing
Dark dye transfers. Pre-wash.
New denim, black cotton and cheap synthetics will stain platinum silicone within hours. Wash any garment three times in cold water before first wear. If a transfer happens, a silicone-safe stain lift exists (we ship it with every order — ask if you need more).
07 · Repairs
Small cuts, big fixes.
A clean cut under 2 cm can be repaired at home with the patch kit included in your shipment. Larger damage, joint problems or finger-bone breaks come back to the atelier. Shipping back is on us; turnaround is two to four weeks.
08 · What not to do
A short, honest list.
No bleach. No hairspray on the wig at close range. No baby oil — it migrates into silicone and stays. No leaving her in a hot car. No sharp jewellery against the chest plate. Anything not on this list is probably fine.
